KNOWLEDGE WITHOUT SPIRITUAL REVELATION
“Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.”(1 Cor. 2:12, 13). Though Jesus was spoken of throughout all the Old Testament from Genesis to Malachi yet when He came manifest in the flesh they knew Him not. There were learned men, scholarly men, those who were well versed in Old Testament writings and laws, yet they knew Him not. Oh yes, there were a few but only a small percent, who were illuminated by the Spirit of God, whose understanding experienced a supernatural unveiling by revelation and they Knew and recognized that He was the promised Word of God, but only a small percent. We can move on over perhaps 30 to 35 AD, though the Scribes occupied themselves in the sacred writings and letters yet they had missed recognizing Him. They had the language and knew the correct laws of their grammar. They had the correct words and all their exact meanings, yet their traditions and ideologies became a veil over their own understanding and they failed to recognize Him as the promised Word. With all their scholarly grandeur, with all their brilliancy and knowledge of the sacred writings of the Word, they had no revelation that He was the promised Word of God manifest in the flesh. They had read and gave themselves to thorough studying of the letters! They had given their mental faculties over to the gaining of a detailed knowledge concerning the sacred manuscripts! The scribes specialized in the field of the sacred writings and were rich in “book” knowledge or the written manuscripts available. They were well acquainted with the written Prophesies of the Prophets and all that had foretold of His coming, yet the veil remained over their understanding! The Scribes and Pharisees, both parties in their own zealous ways had made themselves rich in knowledge that had been acquired by all the formal advanced schooling of their day and yet they were without spiritual revelation. Though those scribes had the very language and were knowledgeable of the correct meanings of each and every word in that day, this veil remained over their own understanding. How could this be? With such a degree of intelligence of the sacred writings, the original language, correct word meanings and knowledge of all their laws of grammar how could this veil remain over their understanding? The Apostle Paul put it this way “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God for they are foolishness unto him; neither can he know them because they are spiritually discerned.” (1 Cor. 2:14). “They Are Spiritually Discerned” (Not Scholastically). Today as well, we have Hebrew scholars whom we have turned to! We have Greek scholars whom we have turned to! We even have those who are learned in Aramaic that we have reached to! Yes, we are to study but we never get the true meaning by scholastic works, it will take “Divine Revelation by The Spirit of God” to bring out the true meaning. Remember this! One may be uneducated and unlearned while another holds high academic credentials and degrees proving they have a superb educational resume. Educated or uneducated either way it is only by the Power of The Holy Spirit that God reveals His great truths and unfolds hidden mysteries; not by scholastic degrees acquired by academic methods and traditions! There is nothing wrong when one moves with great sincerity trying to find the oldest sacred writings and translations. Nothing wrong with trying to find the best manuscripts in search for the best record of God’s Word possible. I do this myself! However, when all this is done it still takes the Holy Spirit of God to bring the unveiling in order for that Word to become alive in us. The greatest need is not another language translation! Not another Bible! Many solely base their interpretation of scripture upon scholastic degrees held by students with great knowledge of various languages that a particular scripture may have been written in. This is a day of revelation! This is a day that the Church needs revelation! For it is by Divine revelation of the Word of God that the Bride of Christ becomes the Continuous Manifest Living Word! There is no power any more prevailing than the power of “The Revelation of The Lord Jesus Christ.” Revelation of “The Word” has always been the foundational power of the church that is built by Christ Himself! The Spirit that gave the Word is the same Spirit that will unveil the Word!
